Homemade 1/4 inch thick ruler
1 Attachment(s)
My husband had these 1/4 inch thick plexiglass pieces cut a while back ( 4 for$5) I watched a video on a women using her regular #24 Bernina FMQ foot and a ruler yesterday. I decided to score some 1/4 inch increment lines on one of my pieces and add 3 pieces of stick on hook side Velcro for more grip. Other then a couple of spots where I didn't keep the foot against the ruler it worked pretty good. I especially liked how it allowed me to FMQ backtrack over lines already quilted. FMQ straight lines has been holding me back on some designs so I think I can go forward now.

Love your idea. Have looked on Home Depot web site for acrylic and can only find large sheets. Want to try this. Can do curvy stuff freehand but not very good at straight lines. Where did your husband get the acrylic? Thanks.

He had them cut at a custom window and door replacement place. He knew the guy and it was just from scraps so hardly any cost.

Thanks for the great idea! I have no trouble with a FMQ straight line until I have to back track over it. That's where I get off track. Your method would keeps me on the line when I back track.

I got some scraps from Lowes or Home Depot. Since they were scraps, I think they were free.
