There is definitely shrinkage with homespun.

On the quilt I made with homespun and regular cotton solids, I did use Best Press before cutting it to slow down the ravel--but did not find it a real problem--and I love the results.

I made a raggy jacket out of the homespun years ago and I love it! I was shocked at how much raveling threads had to be cleaned out of the dryer, but it turned out beautifully. I did make the pieces larger ( about an inch), and then cut the jacket out, however.

those of you who made quilts with the homespun fabric.. were they rag quilts? I am was not really thinking about a rag quilt..

Thank you for asking these questions, meyert, and thanks also for bringing the Dunroven fabric to my attention! I've been looking for some time now for the "right" fabrics from which to make a navy, cream, dark reddish rag quilt for my daughter. I've been focused on flannel, but these colors (and patterns) are much better! And now I also know how to handle them. Thanks, everyone, for sharing your wisdom!
Glad you found what you like. Please post a picture when you are finished!! I would love to see it

Mine is not a rag quilt--but I am using a combination of homespun and solid quilter's cotton in the blocks, which helps stabilize those seams, too.

Yukon,

I'm planning my first Buggy Barn quilt. Even though they're out of business the videos are still online. Would love to hear about your experience with this process.
