I always had semi-decent scissor but with 2 boys, they got "used". I got to where I wrote the date on the outside of the blades. If the blades were less than 6 months old they had best not be touched by them except for fabric. Seemed to work for us.

I have children so I keep my sewing room locked, so that even keeps them unhandy for my husband too.

I used to tie a string of fabric or ribbon to the handle on my good scissors. If anyone ever tried to use them.........
