Horrid Auto Shut Off
I am having a problem with the auto shut off on my Oliso iron. The auto shut off is suppose to be after 7 minutes but its more like 2 minutes or less. It is so irritating to go press some fabric and the darned iron has shut itself off. Does anyone else hate this about irons? Is there a way to stop an iron from doing that? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a new iron that wont auto shut off?

Reliable V100 Digital Velocity iron can be set in a non-auto-shut-off mode.

The Continental Dry Iron does not come with an auto-shut off. I got mine off Amazon.com, but have been told that Home Depot also sells them. This is a dry iron, so if you need steam, you won't like it.

I read this trick to fool the auto shut off from another poster. Keep the nose of the iron pointed down. I found a wedge shape iron stand and that keeps the nose of the iron pointed down when not in use. It keeps the shut off from engaging. Of course this probably won't be possible for the Oliso iron.

My solution is to buy irons from junk stores for $5 or less. Good old, hot, heavy irons that don't shut off. I love them.

I like the auto shut off on my Rowenta. More than once, I forgot to turned it off. I might have been a cooked turkey if NOT for the auto shut!! That idea that Onebyone repeated just might be a great idea.

If it's still under warranty, try filing a complaint with the manufacturer. Shutoff after 7 minutes would be great, but 2 minutes is ridiculous.

My iron doesn't have a shut off. You have to unplug it. That is a whole other problem altogether. :-/

My iron (steam generator)does not have auto shutoff and is plugged into a serge protector/strip. When I'm done for the day I turn off the strip and I'm done. I always leave the light on in the room when the iron is on so I can see (by the light) if I've turned it off.

If you are interested Rowenta makes the Focus. It doesn't have an auto shutoff. I just ordered one from Hancock's, they are on sale. I haven't recieved it yet so I can't tell how I lilke it but I hate an iron with an auto shutoff too.:sew::wave:
