Wow, those are really nice quilts, but WOW on that southwestern horse quilt, I absolutely love that one.

How about the running horses, horse heads, what style of riding is she into? There are a lot of beautiful fabrics with different styles of riding.

Try quiltwhinny on ebay. I just bought a lot of fabrics from her & she has wonderful horse material & she is a quilter PLUS, horse lover as well.

I also received some cowgirl material from fabric.com. Cheap and nice material and much better than I expected.

Don't worry about it being too masculine....I was a little girl horse lover, teenage
horse lover and am a grown woman horse lover...the cowboys are just fine. In fact...as long as its "horse related"...it will be just fine and duly loveed.

Here's one I made for my granddaughter for her 10th bd in May. She loves purple.

I have seen a print that is all horses, in shades of brown and tan, something like that is neutral enough that you could combine it with brighter colors, and it would be make a girly horse quilt. I've also seen in an old issue of Quiltmaker (really old, like from 10 or 15 years ago, but if you happen to have back issues, you could check through them) a block that was a horse. Don't remember if it was paper pieced or what. Anyway, if you do a horse block, you could make the horses any color you wanted, from hot pink to more natural colors.

I found a beautiful piece at my LQS with cowgirls all over it. This is on the selvege: cowgirls by Moda -- Home--www.modafabrics.com #4100 I love it. The background is a soft green. It can be used as a panel because there is a group of riders in the center with all types of cowgirls roping, etc. around the circumference.

Love the horse quilts. You can go to equilterstore.com, click on cotton fabrics, then there are lots of novelty fabric and lots of cowboy/girl and horse fabrics.

I used the Wilmington print Morning Run for the horse wallhanging I made for my neice. The sashing had a batik with coordinating green, gold, and some pink in it that lended itself to the dark burgundy red tones in the backgrounds of the print. Just click on Search and type in Horsing Around to see the print I'm talking about. Those however, are not the one for my neice, but it will give you an idea.

If she's 8 and loves horses, she won't care what it looks like as long as it has horses. How do I know?
