Toilet paper or paper towel rolls are also good to store binding on until you need it.
Use an 8x10, L-shape, free standing, clear plastic picture holder to put my working quilt directions in so they are 'standing up', easy to read and find. They don't get lost in the pile of fabric. |
I use Pant Hangers with the clips to hold my 12.5 inch sqaure.
use plant pots to hold my cutters, thread, pens use a fishing tackle box for travel projects( 3trays is a must) use clear fishing tackle trays for buttons, pins, needles etc. small laundry baskets for fabric storage use paper towel rolls for shipping blocks wax, freezer, tissue papers use for patterns |
I haven't used the liquid bandage in quilting... but you can use super glue for cuts, it doesn't sting as bad, and it costs less. My husband gets cracks on his finger tips, and uses it all the time.
Sorry, double click........ |

I take a sheet of 220 grit sandpaper and wrap it around a small piece of cardboard and duct tape to the back for holding blocks in place for either signing (siggie) or drawing lines from cornor to cornor. I stole my dh's 48" t-square for cutting larger pieces of fabric. I use cornstarch to make my own spray starch, instead of buying, a HUGE savings. What a great 'green' idea.... could you share your cornstarch spray recipe? Thanks! MaryAnna I use an old ceramic cookie jar for all my fabric pens and markers. |
Check out this blog...she has it down to almost a science!
Makes a trip to Lowe's ALOT more fun! LoL! sewmanyways.blogspot.com |
Gads, so much that we do and don't really think about.
I use a wheeled wooden folding kitchen cart as my cutting table. I can clean off the shelves and fold it and put it in the garage when I have company. I am using a Country Time lemonade container to hold specialty threads when winding bobbins or sewing. Plastic make up bags from Walmart or such make great places to put my tools so I am ready to go for sew-ins. Ikea has some fabulous things for storage and sorting. I use the Antonius systems for my projects and stash. I can see through the bins, which won't rust. Am enjoying reading all this. ali |

I use the handy grips for the bathtub that I purchased at Harbor Freight for my 6x24 ruler. They have 3 sizes and I use all three of them. They are sure alot cheaper than the Gypsy Grips that you purchase at the LQS. Also I took wooden drawer knobs and glued them on all my small rulers. They make it easier for me to grip them.
