I figure if someone comes to visit to see if my house is spotless, they can stay home. grin. Have to many things I want to do and cleaning isn't one. My motto is My house is clean enough to be healthy, but dirty enough to be happy. There are always fabric snips and threads to be found somewhere in the house even right after I cleaned. I think they hide in corners and multiply there.

Gotta put my 2cents worth in here. Make the bed, dishwasher is emptied, things picded up, load of laundry done or doing. Got to have time on the computer, then I quilt or what ever in the sewing room. We are retired so DH helps, he does the vacuming, dusting, bathrooms.

I first clean the house every day,and than start quilting
than I have more time to quilt. LOVE my quilting.

The longer I stay home, instead of going out to work, the more I see I am able to do both actually. A bit of cleaning each morning as we school then the afternoon is for sewing and such. Thankfully, our kids pitch in and help. I rarely do dishes and for their laundry - they put it in the washer, carry it to the clothesline (I put it on), they take it off and fold it and put it away. I will usually iron for them if necessary, but our youngest likes to do that even. I do the deep cleaning - one section per week, and keep up the spot cleaning. Each boy keeps his own stuff picked up, I pick up after my husband and me and voila - lots of sewing time left! :)

You hit a nerve on this one! I cleaned better when I worked full time, set aside evenings or weekends for tasks. Retired in 2006 and over time it has slowly gotten worse. My issue is orgainization and a husband that doesn't put anything away. Having both of us home full time.....well the nerve is very edgy! Love him loads and he really doesn't care one way or the other, but it drives me nuts. I go to quilting twice a month and do more then than at home. I feel guilty spending so much time sewing....oh well....thanks for letting me vent!!

LOL, a friend once told me, if you want to visit me, come anytime, if you want to see my house, call and I'll give you an appointment!! Good advice

I'm with you. Need the house clean before I can enjoy myself quilting. My husband is now starting to help with the cleaning, so it goes a bit faster.

The only place housework is before quilting is in the dicitonary. I don't care how messy the house gets if I am working on a quilt! No guilt here either.
