Hello, Can anyone tell me what will clean the gunk off the bottom of my iron - I believe it came from the iron on interfacing I use. Thanks for your help - I know someone from here will know the answer.

I use this stuff. http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/141679...ON_CLEANER.jpg

However if you google how to clean and iron there are a BUNCH of links that come up with MANY different ways to clean your iron from magic eraser to steel wool! I am sure you can find one that will work for you depending on what you have at home on hand!

I just use a wet cloth, and then set the iron on top of it to help steam it off.

Sharon Shambers recommended a wet Magic Eraser. You can use it on the iron cold or warm. I tried it and it took the gunk right off my iron.

I have never been happy with chemical cleaners meant for cleaning irons- I tried two different brands and they still didn't work, but the Magic Eraser did!

I bought some stuff at Joann's that was 50 percent off. It was 7.00 after coupon. It worked really well. I through out the box but when you go to the store its right next to the irons.

I have been reading up on this...and many say that The walmart product - faultless iron cleaner - works really well....also for those of you that like to use stuff from the kitchen they say to use wax paper with salt. I think for under 3.00 I will try the faulless iron cleaner from Walmart.

wet magic eraser!! Works like a charm! A dry magic eraser will erase pencil marks on a quilt top.

I use "Iron off" purchased at Joann's. But you read the directions carefully and use it out side. It set off my somke alarm in the house. But it works
