How close to quilt with cotton batting?
Hey all. I am wondering how close to quilt with cotton batting? It didn't say on the packaging. The brand I bought was Warm and Natural. The quilt top is about 35 in by 45 in. I googled about how close to quilt cotton batting and it said 8 to 10 in for the brand I bought. Then someone else said to quilt it closer together because it would put less stress on it. Thanks for any advice!

Personal preference but I love the feel of a quilt with cotton batting and heavily quilted, like no more than 2" apart. But that's just me.

What does the packaging say? I check suggestions on the packaging.

If it says 8 - 10 that should work. But, I would stitch closer for better durability. I don't like to over quilt one so I would go 3 - 5 inches apart. Depends on the pattern and where it would look good

W&N batting does allow quilting as far as 10" apart but I prefer closer quilting. To me it just looks better but like all things quilting from fabric to thread to machines used, it is very much a personal preference. Like Bluebonnets I like no less than 2" apart.

W&N batting says the quilt up to 10 inches apart, but I prefer closer quilting. It seems to me that 10 inches is too far apart. I like the look of closer quilting.

Ditto for the others. 10" apart is just too far apart for me (I like denser quilting). Also I think it puts less stress on the seams in the quilt to have more quilting.

I look at the quilt and see what works best for it. I usually at least quilt 4" apart but that is because I use mostly Hobbs 80/20 cotton batting. Has a little more fluff to show your quilting.
