I left last Thursday loading the car with machine and the place mats that I was working on and headed to my trailer to sew in the woods. I finished the new seat cushions for the deck and began working on the place mats. I loaded the car this morning to come home for the weekend, previous plans, otherwise I would have stayed in the woods. No cell phones, computers, just peace and quite. Anyways, while unloading the car, I realized I left my sewing caddie. No problem, I have rulers here and I can run to Joanns for thread. Then the lig hit me, my foot pedal and plug is in there. I am actually thinking about the five hour trip to retrieve my foot pedal so I can sew.

Am I crazy?

Thats one reason to have two machinesw.LOL you would be suprised how many people forget there power cords at Quilt classes!

Off you go and find yourself another machine (maybe you could find a cool vintage model somewhere). If you really want to be free of the world when you head off to the woods, get a treadle or a handcrank. Happy quilting:)

Maybe the second machine should be a treadle? Especially if you occasionally have power problems in the woods.

When I got my new machine, I had to trade in my old one to get the great deal that I got on it. 900 trade in on a 500 singer. I will work on prepping my next project. And continue my hunt for a feather weight.

Oh this happened all the time to my friends when they came to sew at my house. Bummer. Five hours you said. No I would not drive back.

Or a hand crank? I always thought a Singer 99(3/4 size machine) would make a good hand crank. I picture myself piecing with it on vacation while watching my children play. I have a Singer 15 (full size) with a hand crank but it is too heavy and it has no reverse. Beauty though.

Time to fet some thread and start hand sewing a quilt!!

or---time to start a hand project??? could be a new (push) to expand the experience- technical skills...with gas prices what they are ($4.19 here) i would put the return trip on the back burner and come up with another solution...it is yardsale season :)

the man who quilted my very first quilt for me years ago was a retired surgeon...he had the same situation once---he lives in 2 different states- and left his foot pedal in Texas when he returned to Michigan...after some thought his wife suggested a hand project ...just to see ... and he reluctantly agreed to try something---and made the most amazing tumbling block quilt i've ever seen!!! he says it has really (loosened up) his fingers and he LOVES the process. try it you might like it
