How to cut for S&W

I posted this question in the other thread but it sorta got lost in the replies. How do you cut these panels for S&W? The panels are 14x14

I would cut on the blue background fabric across the fabric width. Each of the 6 sections would have 2 of the squares on them. Match up the corners on all 6 sections and put in lots of flat flower pins to prepare for cutting the 60* triangles. The best video on OBW tutorial in my opinion is from http://www.ifthesethreadscouldtalk.com/ click on the OBW link at the top of the site.

I'm not quite understanding "cut on the blue background fabric across the fabric width" . The fabric is 45" wide so there are 3 panels across. Its probably staring me right in the eye but I'm just not understanding.

Cut through the sashing from end to end across making three pieces of two squares in each piece.

Yes, on the blue, selvage to selvage. I thought it was 2 squares across but if it is 3 then straight across the whole width. After cutting 6 of the same selvage to selvage sections, they have to be stacked exactly on top of each other matching the repeats. I highly recommend watching the videos to get the idea before cutting!

I'm watching the videos right now

Good luck. And you have enough to make the backing out of the original piece.

What is S&W.....ooooh, never mind just answered my own question...stack n whack! Dah,

I never thought to use a panel for S&W or OBW. What a clever idea. Sometimes they do not give you enough space for a seam allowance for each piece if you want to cut it apart to use as individual blocks, but it could be used for OBW. Thanks for this idea.
