How Did You Quilt Your French Braid?
I have a top that is nearly done, and will be hand quilting it sometime soon. I was just wondering what patterns you picked to do the stitching. I'd like to get some nice different ideas.

I'm making one for my dgd. She wanted a four braid run done in the 4 seasons. I will quilt each panel in motifs of each season, ie. snowflakes, butterflies.

browse the pictures section of the board (narrowing search to 'French braid quilts') and you will see a wide variety of quilting designs. I've made many French braid quilts- one of my favorite patterns- each one is quilted differently- in the way I think that particular quilt would be good. one way to *audition* quilting designs is to use a piece of clear plastic (template plastic can work) use a grease pencil & draw your design, lay it on the quilt- you can see the quilt through the clear plastic & see how that design looks- if you don't like it you can wipe it off & try something different- till you find the one you like best. :) show us pictures we LOVE to see them - before & after quilting. :)

When I quilted my French Braid I echo quilted the center squares, creating lengthwise zig zags for 2 - 3 rows 1/4 inch apart. And I did two 1/4 inch seams down the sashing between rows. I only had a walking foot and hadn't attempted free motion yet.
