I’m just gobsmacked that you would attempt to make one border at 1.5 using 3 strips. Those are some skinny strips to start with, then to sew seams, unpick, resew,—I’m surprised they didn’t fray.

I am an expert at complicating easy things. It’s my superpower.

Most of us don't think the geometry at all! Shapes and sizes and colors are all suppose to just be right any time we cut .. right?? I have bins upon bins of scraps with such errors. Miscuts from very small to very large. Bindings of all kinds can walk miles around my house if I wanted to do a good run. My floor always has scraps in one shape or another and I am always in for a good mistake or more. Your rank up here with the rest of us.

Isn’t that the truth. I’ve made several zipper pouches and totes that are supposed to take less than an hour. Mine take 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Doggramma - I'm right there with you on that! Stuff just takes me soooooo long to do in comparison to my friends!

I made zippered pouches for our guild sale thinking that I could probably be able to whip up a dozen or so in a day plus a bit if I did an assembly line strategy - LOL I didn't include the time that it took to cut out all of the 2" squares for one side and lay them out in a "complimentary pattern" or the time to rip out my mistakes because I sewed a few pieces and rows backwards because I was rushing and just grabbing!! What was I thinking!! Oh dear what a mess!!! Singing the rip it song!! ...and three days later....

I have definitely had projects like this. Where it should and would have been so simple. And, human participation complicated the whole process. It is nice to know I'm in good company some days. lol

I have whole weeks like this sometimes! I am not sure why. I focus, re-read the directions and, "Oh my goodness, wrong again". I chalk it up to too many irons in the fire and too busy with other things as well. But, gee this is frustrating when you try so hard.
So don't think you are alone with this. It happens.

Thank you for messages - it was encouraging to know I’m not the only one!

The quilt is now finished - (hurray!) - and will go to Project Linus when I’ve got a few more made.
