how do I dye material for quilting.

How do I go about dying material for quilting and can I do it in a microwave?

A microwave can be helpful in heat setting dyes. I suggest you go to http://www.dharmatrading.com, for some basic free tutorials and a wonderful resource for all your dying needs. I am not affiliated, but have been a satisfied customer for 18 years. Even before quilting was my obsession.

ditto what DebraK said, I just finished my dye shed and I love it, just remember what ever use for dyeing NEVER use it in the kitchen again, I have all my measuring cups and spoons, even a blender in my shed just for dyeing, they won't even come in my kitchen again. good luck and enjoy, happy dyeing!

You can also very easily dye with plain ol' Rit dye in the microwave and get excellent results.
