OMGoodness. I had no idea that fabric changes so much!

I was commissioned to make the exact same quilt that I made for my grandmother this winter. Hancock's had the sale today and I went....not a single one that's the same. I know that different lines come out with new stuff all the time...but gee whiz!!

So, where do I go to search for these fabrics? I found the exact same backing material at the online shop I got it at last time But what do I do about these absolutely cotton fabrics?

I don't even know where to start searching. Should I call the store and find out how the manufacturer is? I spent hours tonight searching through my favorite shops from the hop and can't find anything. Any suggestions??

Did you try Hancocks online ? or maybe post what it is you are looking for and we can look in out local Hancocks ? Maybe one of the other stores hasn't sold out of it yet...

i've had good luck using

http://www.quiltshops.com/index.html

you can just put in the name of the fabric line and results will come up.

you can even do a search with the fabric name and the word sale and only the sites that have that fabric line on sale will come up.

you could also check ebay.

I didn't even think about trying hancock's online. I should probably call the store and see what the names or lines those fabrics were. I've been asked to make a copy of the quilt I made for Gramma.

You can see all those fabrics here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/14807.page
I don't know if I have any pictures of the fabrics up close than what's in that thread. I don't think the pictures are that great. I'm going to see what I can do.

Thanks for the ideas!

besides this site, one can post a "wanted" on these sites:

www.missingfabrics.com
www.fabrics.net
www.rjrfabrics.com
www.ladybuttonfabrics.com
www.all-about-fabrics.com
www.cranstonvillage.com

On the rjrfabrics.com, click on "fabrics" and go from there

cranstonvillage - one has to sign up

missingfabrics.com and fabrics.net are great sites

If you have not tried, there is a little book I receive every so often called Keepsake Quilting. You can order fabric from them by attaching a little square in the special boxes and they will try to help you find them or a match for them. You might try their on-line store at Keepsakequilting.com.
Good Luck

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I did find most of them on Hancock's site, but they were out of stock. Found the same colors but different fabrics at JoAnn's.
i hope she likes what I found

Try Eleanor Burns, quilt in a day. They had the material my daughter needed.

Just for future reference you might want to try craftconn.com. I have found some fabric that I needed there. Their prices are right and the selection they have is terrific.

I've had good luck with equilter.com on occasion. Found some discontinued cherry fabric I just "had" to have. :-)

I have used this site several times to find outdated fabric. You don't even need to know the name of the fabric, just type in blue stars or whatever and they come up with something. I did notice that some of the sellers do not put in the name of the design or manufacturer. Give it a try!
