I agree with posters who suggest asking your quilting friends, guild members, local LQS, etc. Word of mouth is the best referral.

I don't know that putting an ad in the paper will get you a good response. I can't remember the last time I actually perused the classifieds, it's been at least 10 years.

I would be asking at a quilt guild or group and then actually looking at some of the LAer's work. I would make sure the LAer took notes and gave me a copy of the notes as well as the price quote for work done. Without anything in writing I would have problems trusting the LAer.

Well I found someone one local and she said for a full size quilt she would charge me 50 dollars does that sound about right?

Is she furnishing the batting or are you? It depends on the quilting design, a lot of quilting or not much. That sounds very reasonable. But you need to ask questions , so you both know what you want done.

My LQS does the quilting now, and they also have cards for women who do it in the area.

I live in Tulsa and use two long armers---one is in Claremore and one in Broken Arrow. Pm me if you want contact information. But I really think you can get a list of quality ones from any of the OKC quilt shops. Or call your local quilt guild to get referrals.

Have to correct myself, so very sorry, but the lady I was referring to is #1Piecemaker, not as stated above...and I have Pm her soooo many times, should have known better..

The least longarmers here in CA charge is $.01 per square inch. Say an 85 by 90 would be $76.50 and that would be simple panto side to side. Just the quilting no batting or backing. So $50 is very reasonable...but I guess each region is different.
