Holice - You have articulated what I believe I am recognizing but not really wanting to admit! I'll attach a couple of pictures. The borders have a fairly close serpentine stitch going around the quilt (approximately a foot's width between columns and then the sashing with the circles. The blocks look a little unbalanced. But I don't think a stipple is the answer. Maybe a small but not dense pebble.

Qulting about 1/4" away from the seams will help define the shapes better and give you the additional qulted it looks like it needs. I am a firm believer in the 1/4" outline stitch. Many blocks don't need decorative quilting. I don't believe stippling would add anything to the overall design either.
