I am making a signature quilt for a dear friend that has cancer, I made strips and sold therm, gave the people different colors of fabric markers, but they all didn't use mine, they used sharpies and such. Is there any thing I can spray on the quilt, or anything I can do to the quilt to makes these signatures permanent?

Perhaps a textile medium which can be found in the art department of craft stores......

don't know the answer either, but I would take a photo of each signed block and make a memory book in addition to the quilt. This way everything would be preserved.

Sharpies can be as permanent as many of the other markers. You need to heat set with your iron.

sharpies are permenent-
and if markers were used that are not permenent ink you can always go over them with permenent ink markers- heat set-
sometimes people embroidery over signatures for siggy quilts too-

Thank you so much, that is a really good idea.I will do that too.

I will heat set them, but I have over 325 signatures, so embroidery is not a option. Thank you. I have to get this finished now, her cancer is spreading.

For the Sharpies, you know what to do. However, for the other markers, if you don't know what has been used, this could be a problem when laundering the quilt.
