How do I Rip Out Blanket Stitch?
 

I searched for "removing blanket stitch" and of course came up with tons of blanket stitch articles, here and on the web.

I know I found a great, easy way to remove it with the seam ripper, and saved a bookmark, but of course I can't find it!

Does anyone know an easy way to remove the stitches rather than cutting through each part of each stitch?

I still want to use the seam ripper, but it's something about the order in which you do it that lessens the steps.

Are you referring to machine stitched or hand stitched?

If hand stitched you use the seam ripper to lift the stitches off each other, if that makes sense.

If machine stitched, it is kind of like removing serger stitching, you have to determine which end to start at and then it goes quickly.

Very slowly with a seam ripper...

I always use the seam ripper on the back - straight across the 'ladder', then I lift the front stitches off. Sometimes, for very small stubborn stitches, I use tweezers.

I would love to know if there's an easier way!

Will it unravel if you undo one of the ends . Don't know which one so will need to try both.
