How do I square strip of stacked coins that are not squared

I'm trying to make this quilt top that is called Stacked Coins but the coin strips are cut from various fabrics that are 9 inches wide but are sewed together in different lengths and angles. When I got done one strip it needs to be squared so that each side is straight and I don't know how to this. The instructions I have for this pattern don't make sense to me.
Is there a simple way to square this 46 inch length strip so both sides are straight from top to bottom.
Thanks for any help.

Do you have a 24" ruler? I would fold the strip in half and square the sides of the strip to the fold, then square the short ends. Actually, what I would do would be to piece chunks about 10 to 14 inches long, square those then sew the smaller segments together which should wind up close to being square.

tip for next time--cut a strip of light weight non fusable a little wider than needed and sew the strips to it--alternate sewing right to left ---then left to right----how do i know this? -- i sewed a strip that actually cork screwed no way to tame that piece
