I just made this drawstring bag as an x-mas present for my son. It will hold all his little plastic army men that he loves. Well I sed cord and those squeeze things to hold it closed.
What do I do to the ends of the cord? right now there is tape, do I burn?? Thanx Star |
Is it nylon? Burning sounds good. Try it on a scrap first. Maybe you could sew the ends too.
You can also use glue. Just dip the ends in a good white glue and let dry.
not sure if it is nylon,
would I have to re-glue later after he drags around for a while? |
You would probably need to re-glue only if you washed the bag; white glue is usually water-soluble.
You could also use Fray Check or Fray Block on the ends. (Fray Block is softer. Both are pretty much permanent.) If it's nylon, try burning the edge outdoors (because of the fumes and smell); that would melt the end permanently. |
Thanx Prism99, Scissor Queen, and Jnastar!! I will give it a try.
I just add a bead, knot the ends, then fray them out. You need to be careful with burning because it can leave sharps bits.
I like to know them too and pull it very tight, then trim the ends up to the know :D:D:D
yep, burn the end. my hubby does that with the rope/string for our cat's leashes.
Are they too thick to knot? Burning always works for me with the nylon cord.
