boy if you could find buickjim (a quilter on another forum some time ago) he could tell you in a heart beat. he's the log cabin King.He has a quiltstore in California, something with Bear in the name because everyone made him blocks with bears in it.

There are several different patterns for Log Cabin. If you could give more information, it would be easier to calculate. A picture would be great.

what was your idea??

Sadiemae 09-17-2010 07:17 PM

I don't know for sure if I understand what you are asking, but I will try...

If you need a 45" log cabin and you have 12 strips wide in your log cabin. 45/12=3.75 and if you add .5 for seam allowances. I come up with 4.25 or 4 1/4". Your finished square will actually be a little larger because of the white strip that connects them, so your large square would be 92.25", if I understand what you are asking.
