As I may have mentioned here before, I love FMQ! But when I finish a top, I agonize over how to quilt it. I pull out books, magazines, and search online for ideas. Some quilts I do stencil, like the gold and white American Beauty(pic below). Some I think need to be whimsical and/or playful, like the batik pictured. The purple scrappy is the one I'm working on now, and I'm happy with it. But sometimes after I've done several blocks or so I find I don't really like the pattern I chose. So, how do you choose, and what do you do if you don't really like what you've done?

Life is full of "should have, could have or would have" but just go with what you decided on and love it.( NO RIPPING)
Life is too short for that, You will get better on deciding how to quilt with experience. Your quilts are lovely, go with your first impression.

I always go through the (I don't know what to do thing). I will lay out the quilt and walk around it and look at it for days. Then start all over agine. But I find that my first impression and my first thought on how to quilt it are usally what I end up with. People always like it and I wonder to my self why I always go through all the fuss. Then I get to my next quilt that I have to quilt and I start the process all over agine.

I do exactly the same,, & usually let the fabric speak. The 1st speaks feathers, the 2nd,, I see the wavy lines in the sashing.
