Too chicken to sit down and actually practice FMQ on my DM. So most of mine if MQ is straight stitched and I let the quilt decide that. When I'm HQ I usually use moffits and SID.

Grannyrosie, You are missing out on all the fun. The best advice I have ever gotten in quilting is this: "Just do it!" That's a direct quote. So I took her advice and sat down and started to fmq. It wasn't pretty to begin with. Start with a practice sandwich--what are you going to lose and what are you going to gain? I hope you will join in and enjoy.

I have used my embroidery machine for quilting. It is especially useful for medallion quilting.
Some days when I just start in to quilt something, without letting the quilt speak, I can try over and over, rip out all my mistakes. Then when I calm down and 'listen' to what I think the quilt wants/needs the quilting can be completed very quickly. Scary sometimes how that works in my sewing room. It's as if I have a quilting gremlin. Better yet, maybe it is my own Grandma Angel sitting on my shoulder. I like that idea better.
