I have just finished making a quilt for my cousin's teenage daughter (twin size). It is a a charm pack. The pattern is a 9 patch(block size 12 ") with 2" borders between each block. I would like to quilt it myself but I don't know what pattern to use. I really don't want just stitch in a ditch. Any suggestions are welcome.

I have three clear plastic sheets (A3) that I edged with painters tape and electrical tape so that I didn't go over the edge. I put one over the area of quilt the I am considering, then use a dry wipe pen to audition a design. If I don't like it, I wipe it away with a tissue and try another one.

There is something similar for sale on the Handiquilter site, where they say you could then sew round your design without thread in the needle, then use pounce powder to transfer the design to the quilt, but I just do mine freehand once I have decided what to do.

That is a fantastic idea! I'm an eager but not very proficient beginner in FMQ and the "how do I quilt this? what would look good on this quilt?" questions drive me crazy. While I'm not an artist, I could trace motifs to audition on a quilt! Thanks for the suggestion!
