How do you get holes out when you rip machine quilting?
I have read about some of you ladies ripping out the machine quilting. I just finished a table runner and I hate the quilting.
-- After you take out the quilting, do you do anything before you re-quilt it? -- Do the stitches come out when you wash after you have quilted it a second time? Thanks much! |
The holes from the original quilting should close up just peachy once it's washed/dried. You might also get the same results by pressing with steam but can't swear to that.

Yes, my experience has been that the original holes will close up when the item is washed and dried.

One thing I've done when having to remove embroidery stitches is use Magic Sizing and press. This usually takes the needle holes out so I can re-embroider in the same place w/o washing.

Thanks -- I tried pressing with the sizing, but the holes are still there -- will have to quilt it again and wash it.

I usuall kind of "help" the holes to close by gently caressing the back of the fabric with my fingernail. They do usually come together when You wash the quilt.

So far mine have come together with washing.

Any way to get them out without washing?
