How do you hang this quilt?
 

My friend has a quilt that you run a dowel through the back of the quilt. She wants to know how to hang it up. I've never made one like that. How do you hang it up?

You can hang it like a curtain or if there is a space in the center like a large picture or piece of art (which it is).

command strips if I understand correctly.

There is a sleeve in the back of the quilt where you run a dowel through, but then what do you do with the dowel? How do you hang the dowel? To what? With what?

I installed a long curtain rod in my living room where I display quilts I have just made, that way I can admire them for a while before I give them away.

buy some decorative drapery hooks.

Command strips IS a good idea - that way if you don't get it exactly level, you can re-do it easily. A piece of art that is crooked really bugs me till I fix it!

You can also use giant push pins to hang a dowel rod over. I have at least two sizes of giant push pins and both sizes would work with dowel rods. If you don't want to put a hole in the wall Command hooks work great too. The cafe curtain rods are the same size as the smaller dowel rods and come with hanging hardware or they work with Command hooks too.

I get 2 screw eye hooks and screw them into the ends of the dowels, then hang these on nails. If the dowels are longer than the sleeve, you can skip the eyes and just put the dowel over the nails.
