Can you post a picture? Here's the basic block if it's the same one I am thinking of.

Years ago, in the early 80's. I think it was done the same way. Seems like a lot of patterns travel in cycles. I thought there was a discussion about this here, a long time ago now, and ShellyQ had posted her method, but it didn't pop up in the search. If I remember right, she posted directions for a few different sizes.

I imagine for a table runner, you could just string a few together.

Hi Moonpi :D , were you meaning this one http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/3329.page
Only thing is they were foundation pieced not folded, I know the stars you mean but I've never done one of those, always liked the look of them tho, If anyone finds some directions I'd be interested to see too.
Ok, silly me  , you already gave a link, thanks Moonpi

This is one of the styles I talked about loosing after the fad had faded! This was so fun ! I did many pot holders, pillows and table trivots from this pattern ! It was fun, easy and very little sewing ! It is NOT sturdy!! Be careful and understand a tack at each tip does not guarentee this will take quilt use abuse.

My grandmother in the 1980's won a prize for Christmas door decorations in her retirement community. The elderly woman loved this idea too!!
