If the quilt is twin size or smaller I use my John Flynn frame. If it is bigger I scrunch and do it in sections.

I puddle rather than roll too. Having the whole quilt supported on your table is a must.
I agree. Recently, I quilted an oversized king size quilt and although I cut the batting into thirds, I was working with a large amount of quilt. By puddling and having good support, the quilting went well

Lots of tables around my sewing table and the domestic machine is set into the table.

Scrunch & puddle is the way I do it. I have a large table to the left and behind my machine. Sometimes I flip the quilt over my left shoulder as well.

I learned through trial and error to just scrunch it up neatly'ish and start from the center and work my way out to a side. Also had an ironing board lowered on my left side to help with the weight of the quilt.
Then I bought a longarm. Lol. No more crawling around on my knees or quilting in my undies and still sweating like crazy. :)
LOL!! I, too, purchased the clips at first, but didn't find them helpful for what I was doing, so I am of the scrunch/puddle group. I literally laughed out loud about the crawling around on knees or quilting in undies and still sweating like crazy! I sweat bullets when I am basting my quilt. I maneuver my various tables around me to support the fabric while quilting, but still end up sweating then too.
