I don't sell mine yet since i'm just starting my 3rd quilt and have a lot to learn... But i'm just curious if you just make a quilt and put it on ebay, go to craft fairs and sell them there, or do you make them for special orders only... also, how do you price them? this is something i'm very interested in doing in the future... thanks

i started with craft fairs, then i moved into "Invitational Only" gallery shows - which you basically submit your resume and portfolio and then go thru an interview process and 2 artists from each category are put into the show.

now i just do work by commission only.

i charge any where from $50-$100 a square foot for a quilt depending on how much embellishment i've done.

Actually, I just had TWO orders for quilts last night - for the first time ever - I am so excited. A lap quilt for a guy I went to college with - his wife ordered it - he is not well and she wants one for him and then she wants a king size one for their bed. I asked her to purchase (pay for) the fabric - told her the approx price for quilt store fabric (which is what she wants to use) and told her it takes 60 - 70 hours to hand quilt and she could pay me what she thought was fair - NORMALLY I would not do it that way - but their income is limited and I know I'll get something for the labor - I am looking at it mostly as practice for a 'customer.' I will charge the next time someone asks me to do something - I will have a better idea how nervewracking it will be to quilt for a customer and how long it will take - i have never REALLY timed the hours - I will pay close attention this time... :) Hope I don't live to regret this!! :)

Etsy is a good reference to pricing handmade quilts. http://www.etsy.com/search_results.p..._desc&ship_to=
