I guess I store them by size first and then by color.

What is the largest size scrap you are willing to throw in the wastebasket?
In other words, what is the smallest scrap you are willing to save? |
i'm about 2 inches.
i do a lot of paper piecing with very tiny sections so even a 2 inch is good for me. |
I sort mine by color but it is a total mess right now.
|
size...then color
anything bigger than a fat quarter, goes in one area by color all fat quarters sorted by color on another shelf anything less than a fat quarter, in clear shoeboxes...... I've learned, as with all crafts, if I sort and put away as I'm working then it never overwhelms me. ......... I said I LEARNED this, i didn't say I DO it all the time!   |
SORT??? Gee are we supposed to do that? I toss everything together and then when I want something, I spend about half an hour looking.

Don't ask why, but another thing that I think I'll attempt for no apparent reason, is any trimmings, like no wider than 1/4" or so, I wanna put into a clear jar to use as a decoration. Again, don't ask why. :P |
I sort itty bitty bits by color and the rest by shape: chunk or strip.
|
I have all my fat quarters and yardage sorted by colour, then I have bins with left over binding, pieces over 6 in square, 4in, 2in. The smallest I will keep is 1.5in, as I have an ongoing postage stamp quilt presently about 3ft x 5ft.
