How do you think I should quilt this?
 

I'm doing a QAYG quilt to help save a little money. This block is all set (using fusible batting) and ready to quilt. I have 21 in this color and 21 in purple/green. The recipients love the colors. My quilting is still very beginner level and I'm not sure how to quilt this. Two thoughts I had were - quilt 1 inch diagonal lines across the entire block and then assemble the blocks so the diagonals create a zig zag affect across the quilt. I can echo quilt inside each piece of the block, but that requires alot of thread ends and not sure that is the best idea either. I'm open to your suggestions.

Since you are QAYG, how about quilting it like a hand quilter would by stitching straight stitches a 1/4" inside the seams matching the thread with the fabric you are stitching?? I would stitch in the ditch in the white framing sashing.

I don't know, but it sure is gorgeous!

I would stick with straight line stitching too, but do it this way: In the center square, do a continuous straight line following the square shape moving into the center of the square (start on the outer side of the square, and rotate 90 degrees at each corner, gradually working to the center where you stop--like making a square maze--you would have to bury your start and stop threads since they would be in the square, not on the outside border), and on each outside corner, do single straight line echo quilting lines across the long side of the triangle, gradually working to the very corner, starting and stopping on the outside border edges so you don't have any threads to bury. I would make the lines no more than 1" apart, preferably 1/2"-3/4" spacing. Hope that makes sense, hard to describe. Love the block!

My machine has fancy stitches on it. I picked 1 out I liked and did it on each of the seams...on a king size quilt. It turned out beautiful and my DS loves it!

Maybe a Baptist Fan? They are beautiful. Please post when your finished I would love to see what you've done.

I would use a circular design since your blocks are so square and graphic.

I would do straight lines in the green part and swirls throughout the orange part.
