I did this with all my quilt magazines and all my knitting magazines. I saved a boat load of space and I can actually find what I'm looking for.

Great minds think alike. That is exactly how I organize mine.

Boy that's harsh!! lol, I don't think I can do that. I have tons and each time I want information I know where it is. I do make binders too but I print out the stuff for my binders from the magazines pages so not to ruin them and if I do want to get rid of some they are all there. They are like my fabrics just cannot get rid of nothing!! Sick, sick, sick. Just costs to much to replace I guess even with magazines. We will be moving and I will be taking all my sewing room collections, fabrics, books and all those magazines too. It's not fun being addicted to this hobby but better that than something really bad and un-healthy.
I've been married 56 yrs. so you can guess how much we are going to be moving with just sewing stuff. Well, happy quilter means happy wife.
Please think about all your patterns and magazine before you cut them up. Find another way, maybe like what I do.
take care quilters and make beautiful things.

I do the same thing and go one step farther. I also cut out pictures of cool quilts that I just like to use for future ideas and also put them i binders. This really helps when looking for ideas.

I have done exactly this!! It is always the patterns you throw out that you see on here looking so fabulous, and sure enough, you have thrown it out.

What a great idea! I can't pass up a quilting magazine, but am running out of storage room. I have started tagging quilt patterns that I like. Think I'll get a notebook and try it out.

I did the same thing, and it works great for me. After I go through the magazines (and photocopy any of the patterns that I need), I pass the magazines on to my sister, who does the same, then passes it on to a friend...great recycling and saves me space. Of course, there are some magazines that I keep cover to cover....and read them over and over again.

I have been doing the same and have several notebooks with the page protectors. I put mine in books by putting a label on the spine: Applique, Tips, Pieced, Quilt Motifs, Baby Quilts, and one with "?" of patterns and ideas I'm undecided on.
