How to get brown paper off template.

I get templates that on the right (correct) side is brown paper. I can't rip it off. It's stuck very well. Last night I took a small one & put it in a bowl of warm sudsy water. Today the paper came off easily. Is that what you are suppose to do? Why do they have the brown paper on the right side anyway? I'm finding it more & more these days. Any easier way to get the paper off? Thanks.

I usually just take a small pin and work at one corner to lift the paper up. This has always worked for me. BrendaK

The big sheets of acrylic are shipped with this protective paper to prevent scratches. Most manufacturers will cut the templates from the sheets with the paper on to reduce chipping. Sometimes it is really stuck on! Soaking is a good option.

Wetting them is the way to go if you need the paper off. Last time I used templates like that, I just ripped off as much as I could and used them like that. I'm sure I'm the world's laziest quilter.

Soaking in the sink is the best option. It makes it so easy to just pull it off. If you are willing to take the wait of letting it sit there over night, this is the easiest that I can think of.
