Once you wash them in vinegar and laundry soap (use lots of vinegar) you may have to wash again, with soap only, to get the vinegar smell out. I have done that successfully in the past for cat pee. Not sure if it'll work for mothballs. Do let us know! I really hate that smell, too. Gosh, what is it with some people and mothballs? Are moths really such a problem, lol? I hardly ever see moths.

I finally gave the flannel-like piece (it did have polyester in it) to the neighbors to put over their plants when it got below freezing. I never did get the smell out of that piece. I told them to put it in a garbage bag and store it under their shed!

I washed everything AGAIN - hung it in the sun for days - some of the pieces have only a very faint smell left in them and that I can tolerate.

I think cat pee smells wonderful compared to moth-ball smell!!!
