I found a fabulous stain remover. One part dish soap I used Dawn Two parts Hydrogen peroxide. Mix together spread on stain let sit for a bit and wash. My husband had some stains on a shirt that I had almost put in the rag bag because I couldn't get them out. I used this and out they came. One of his favorite shirts saved. This also works on hard water stains on your plastic utensils and pans that are lovingly used. I'm not buying OxiClean again.

You could try soaking it in a solution of hot water & lemon juice. Just think what tea looks like if you add lemon, it lightens up doesn't it? Lemon juice is a great natural stain remover, very useful for delicate vintage fabrics. Alternate between soaking in lemon juice dilution & oxiclean solution. Between the two, they'll lift out most if not all of the stains.

I would try Oxy-Clean or the product you see at Hancock's and JoAnns called Grandma's Stain Remover.

How about tea staining it further?
What about Scotchguard'ing before the first use? |
Oxyclean should work.

I recently made a few mug rugs for gifts and I made them with darker colors to avoid this problem. My Mother would have a heart attack if she ruined something I made for her.
