How to hang

I am making a Christmas wall hanging and I will need to remove it after the holidays, so I thought I would use a command hook, but I really have no idea how you attach the quilt to the wall. I really don't want to put any nails in the wall and I wouldn't want the command hook to show. So how do you hang wall hangings?

If the top is straight, I sew a triangle in each back corner and put the ends of a rod under the triangles. The rod can then sit on a command hook or nail.

These work well for hanging quilts or projects. The come in different sizes.

I don’t know how big your wallhanging is, but Command makes the cutest clothespins in black or white. I’ve got several quilts hung with these. This quilt is 32x39”, and it’s held perfectly for more than six months now!

They’re small, but they do the job for wallhangings! I wish they made them in a bigger size, too....

On a recent Sewing with Nancy, RIP, program she suggested using just the adhesive part the command hooks and not the hook itself. Attach sticky strip to wall, let set, and then attach you quilt the outer side of the sticky strip where you would normally place the hook. If you wall hanging isn't to large, maybe this would work for you.

My suggestion would be to use a nail and make other seasonal wall hangings to put up in the same place :sew:

I hung a queen sized quilt last year using about five command strips that looked like Velcro across the top. When I decided to take down the quilt, it was easy to remove the strips from both the wall and the quilt. No residue was apparent on either the wall or the quilt.

Good suggestions. Have not seen the clothes pins, but will watch for them now. Love it. Good luck with hanging your seasonal quilt wall hanging.
