I've made one and I just love it. If I can do it, anyone can. I took a one day class and I don't remember if the pattern says to make a "cheat sheet" with a tiny piece of fabric numbered 1 - 17 or whatever it calls for, but teacher said to do it. I would have been lost without this. Hope this makes sense. Maybe somebody else can say it better. Oh, yes. Like someone else said....Stay Organized; keep your strips organized.

I have made several and the best help is a wall to put your strips on BEFORE you sew the quilt together. Use scant 1/4" seams.
Use Quilt in a Day for your first one, her books are very easy to follow. Have fun!

That is the pattern I used for mine and it wasn't too hard at all. And it's one of my favorite quilts. That one is mine.

Barb did a tute on bargellos. It all started here. The actual tute starts on page 5 or 6. She makes it look easy. Some day I'll make one.

Quiltville.com has an excellent pattern for a scrappy bargello that is perfect for beginners because it uses the same size square for all pieces. We devoted one of our quilt meeting nights to this pattern and everyone's quilt came out fantastic.

That is what I am doing now, since I am rather new to quilting, I am doing same size blocks, it's a challenge, but, as I look at it, it looks pretty good

Good for you EagerBeez! You'll learn a lot of skills putting this one together, like lining up the squares and pressing one row in one direction and the next row in the other direction to make it easier for the two rows to go together. We would love to see your finished quilt.
