I don't know... a little to busy for my taste and to likely for mistakes. If you do this do it nice and slowly.

My quilting often shifts either the top or backing slightly. If the edges are prefinished, the excess would have no where to go. If I wanted piping, I might consider using a facing. Have you thought about a flange binding to add a pop of color?

I never like doing this, with or without piping. I much prefer to do just a regular quilt. I only like to tie comforters.

As several posters have mentioned, if you quilt it after you have sewn the layers together to birth the quilt, you will almost certainly have puckers.

Thanks, I decided to abandon the birthed piping deal and just go traditional.
