DH wanted to try my 45 rotary cutter on some foam, it didn't work, but I knew it was a good idea to change the blade. I have some packs of Harbor Freight blades and I thought it was time to try them, but I wanted to know that it was one of those blades in my cutter. I had a selvedge edge wrapped around the handle and tied as a leash so I took a pen and wrote both the date and the initials HF so I would know both things....and now I will, even if I don't remember it without looking.

That is a great idea! My DH wants to try my cutter on everything too.

Another way would be to use a marker to put the date and initials on the blade.

i use a sharpie marker and write right on the blades- i always put the date when a blade is new- i have a dozen different cutters (it seems like anyway) so that's the best way for me to know when i want the sharpest blade

the cutters do seem to multiply don't they??? I bet I've 5 or 6 and gave one to a beginning quilter friend till she saw if she wanted to continue quilting or not.

I'm really eager to try the Harbor Freight blade, maybe I need to quit sewing strip together and cut some, hunh?
