Honestly, I would quarter the blue fabric and join the quarters together with the muslin to get the full size of the backing that you need. There would be some piecing involved, but not a lot, and it would look like a gift box without the bow.

I totally agree! I love a pieced back and this a perfect solution for a t-shirt quilt.

You all always have such good ideas. I learn something new each time I get on here. Thanks Teresa

It seems to me that this quilt will be a wallhanging rather than a bed quilt. Since the wall is the only thing that will see the back, don't worry about it!! I use muslim often, even on bed quilts tho....and it looks fine, and shows off my stitching

Thanks for all the input. The advantage to using the muslin is that it is 108" x 108" and is big enough without any sewing. The dis advantage is that I'm afraid it will look like I didn't care about the back. I'm thinking about all the suggestions trying to decide what I will do :) can't get, to it until next week anyway.

There is nothing wrong with piecing the back to have it large enough. You could really dress it up by adding more T-shirt pieces thru the center on the muslin.

The light backing should be fine. It will show off your quilting so it will look just as nice as the front.
