I just finished one that was 86 x 108 inches. It is something I would do again, but isn't necessary since everybody else has full-sized beds, not queen or king.

I took a suggestion from another quilter and only worked on it an hour at a time. The weight of the quilt got exhausting, even with an extra table behind machine, and then I would make mistakes. It got done and I'm thrilled with it.

Most of my quilts are between 64 and 80 inches wide by 96 inches long. I just bought a Bernina 440QE this month and it has an extra 2 inches between the needle and the motor housing, which makes quilting a large quilt quite a bit easier, surprisingly. Still, if I had to do a King size, I would do that section by section and then assemble the sections. I can't afford to send more than one quilt out to be quilted annually. I tend to spend my budget in advance on fabric!

I will quilt mug rugs on my DSM! After quilting place-mats on my DSM I decided I could quilt by check or buy a longarm...I bought a longarm!!! Life is SO much better :thumbup:

i usually dont i but them up and make sure they are sprayed dowen together real close,,the first time i whip stitched it

I have a king size on my domestic sewing machine at this very minute. There are several tricks that I use: first, stitch all the way around using a walking foot to join all layers, second, use garden gloves that have the grabbers on them, and last plan out how I am going to quilt and do it in small sections at a time. Don't ever try to do the whole thing without a plan. Most important-- Take your time!! this isn't a race.

I have done a king and would do it again. Not easy but sure saves me money I can buy more fabric with. :lol: :lol:

I quilt very detailed quilting king size quilts all the time. No problems

I've done queens but from now on I will quilt in sections.
