I've only been quilting since 2002. I made clothing, mainly for my granddaughter, then we started homeschooling her in '02, so she didn't need any school clothes. Well, what am I to do with all this fabric?LOL I collected fabrics before quilting. Anyway, there was a group in the little town that we were in, that had an ad in the little free paper, looking for scraps, spare change, people to help, etc., to make quilts and donate to the local shelters. So, I took all my scraps, was determined I wasn't going to quilt though. I'd tried that many years ago, but then I found out about rotary cutters, mats, rulers, etc. Anyway, I've made about 100 quilts, baby size to twin, all tied, and all donated. I'm working on what I'm calling a kimono quilt for a dear Japanese friend, have a Triple Irish Chain in the works for me, a snowball top finished, ready to quilt and plans and fabrics for another 6 quilts. I just need more time.LOL

I dont remember the year but it was back when liquid embroidery pens were popular.
I cut out squares and copied color book pictures on them then colored them with pens.
Then the big mistake happened when I used an old wool army blanket for batting. It shrunk the first time it was washed and ruined the quilt.
I did not try quilting again till about 3 yrs ago when my daughter introduced me to a small group of quilters who meet once a month.
Ive been hooked ever since. I have make about 25 or more quilts all small lap quilts except for 2 twin size.
I have learned so much from making small quilts that I recommend that as a great way to learn before taking on larger ones.

I am a painter who attended a workshop in 2001 to do a project that involved painting on fabric. The second part of the workshop was to sew on borders, quilt the design and add embellishments to make a wall hanging.

Loved doing it so much I went straight into making a full size sampler quilt all hand pieced and hand quilted. Have since completed 15 projects, mainly by machine and have 2 currently in progress and another in the planning stage.

Do more quilting than painting these days.

I have been sewing quilts for about three years. I have made over twenty quilt. Most of them for family. We will never be cold. :D :D :D I started quilting because of a quilt my mom made my oldest daughter. All my kids have used it and my DGD wanted it. They all want it. I wanted to make something that could be loved that much. Then I got hooked and never looked back.

I started making baby quilts about 20 years ago and selling them thru' a local craft shop. I lived in a cruise ship stop over town, so they never stayed on the shelf very long!!! I didn't count, but I am sure I sold over 30 that way. I had to put quilting on the back burner for a few years while I was being a single mom. My stock in trade is clothing designer/seamstress, so after sewing for 8-10 hours a day, usually 6 days a week, (gotta love being self employed!!! :( ), the last thing I wanted was to sew anything more. I started quilting again after moving to the US about 7 1/2 years ago. I work in a Credit Union now, so quilting is my therapy now. I know I am going to need LOTS of therapy....for many many years. :D

I've sewn clothes for over 40 years but only quilting for the past six or seven. My first attempt at a quilt in still a WIP and in a plastic bin. My "avatar" is my second quilt and took my four years to finish. We moved from Oregon to Arizona and I had (to my dismay :shock: ) packed my pattern layout away in storage so I had to recreate the layout from memory. And yes, there are mistakes but that makes it unique. I've made quilts for three of my four grandchildren and my youngest grandbaby's mommy want me to wait til he is older and can enjoy it more. The blue quilt I made last spring for my Lil' Mister (my middle grandson) and last fall I made a lap quilt for my husband's grandmother that is also pictured below. My kids have been bugging me for quilts - so maybe next Christmas they'll have warm ones under the tree. I've always loved the beauty of quilts and hope now that my home is an "empty nest" i'll be stitching up a storm. :-)

I've been quilting almost two years now and I have givenalmost everyone in my family a Q to K size quilt. I have about 17 tops ready to quilt (waiting for tax money to get them quilted). Oh how I love to quilt.

I've been making quilts for about 20 years. I grew up sewing clothes for me and my dolls.

My first quilt was in 1989, I had a supervisor at work expecting his first baby and I found a learn to quilt book, reduced the 12" blocks to 6" and used small pastel prints from Joann Fabrics. I can't imagine if the quilt has survived - I used some of the scraps in quilts I've made for myself and those pieces have faded and even shredded at the seams! Just goes to show the difference in quality and choices we have now compared to the 80's! Since then, I've made several king size quilts, WH, table toppers, baby quilts, etc.

I love trying new techniques and find a lot of inspiration on the msg. boards - I'll try anything once to see if I like it, sometimes saving instructions for a later date when my tastes may change!

I have been quilting for about 25 years now. :) I made my first quilt when i saw a picture of one and decided to give it a try. Fell in love with the art then and there. I think i have made around 40 or so. Don't realy have the time or faqbric to make to many. :? LOL Liz
