I've heard different ways to making the machine cabinet or extension tables more slick so fabric moves smoothly. One idea was putting car wax on the table top.
If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
I did FMQ on baby quilt and noticed it could go smoother.
I do have gloves which help grab the fabric.

I use a product called "Sew -Slip. http://www.sewslip.com/
It works great, its got a tacky back; but its not adhesive. Its a cured silicone sheet, it goes over the bed of your machine and cabinet. My machine sits in a a cabinet that allows the bed of my machine to be flat with the cabinet. Here's the link to a picture of my cabinet and 1 of my

Is the machine flat with the cabinet bed?

One thing you can do is tape a Teflon sheet (the kind used to catch drips in an oven, or an applique pressing sheet for fusibles) to your surface. Make a small hole for the needle.

You can even just purchase clear plastic and tape that to the surface. (Walmart sells it in the fabric area, off of rolls, for just a couple of dollars per yard.)

Just be careful to remove tape when you are done. The adhesive in tape can become permanent over time and mar the finish of your cabinet. Also do not allow the tape to become heated, as this also cements it to the surface.

Plastic sheeting works great for me.
