how to make "window"s with black, etc.

I want to do some things with stripes of black that make it look like windows. I see them on this board but don't know when to add them or how. I don't know what it is called so can't look it up. Would like a link or two that I could click on.

Are you meaning like stained glass that you use bias tape to make the lines that look like the leading. Or the attic windows that look like you are looking out through a paned window.

Here's a car seat blanket I made. The pattern is Attic Windows (there are some great tutorials on YouTube) and I used 1.5" sashing in between the blocks. The focus fabrics are cut to 6.5" with the windows being 2.5" and the black sashings at 1.5"to create the front of the windows. Don't let the 45-degree angle scare you.

I think I know what you're talking about. Scroll down to Free Motion Fillers. I'm taking that lass on Craftsy?

I really like the technique that Ludlow quilt and Sew demonstrates in their tutorial. Using the 1/2 square triangle in the corner really speeds up the process and I think it looks just as good.

I love the look of an Attic Window. It's been on my "to-do" list for a while..one day...

ArtsyOne, I really like the quilt you show, that would be great to use up some fat-quarters.
Thanks for sharing.

Go to Missouri Star Quilt and google Window Pane Block It does not give what size block it makes so I am making one out of scraps for my first one. I believe this is what you are looking for. Also Spoonfull of Sugar and Double Slice Layer Cake are nice.

Have made several attic windows. I like the illusion the pattern produces. They are easy and one can choose the colors to frame the center picture.

I have been looking for something like Attic Windows for some time. This board is the absolute best to be on if questions on any project.
