I just looked on Craigslist in my area and there is a black Featherweight for sale--- only $150. I already have 4 ( 1 white, 1 tan, 2 black). I did email the seller, I know I won't be able to resist buying it. The seller says it needs work, this doesn't scare me as usually they just need oil/grease or the needle is in wrong. Parts are fairly easy to come by. The pictures looked fine. Would you buy it if you already had 4?

Well if it a color you don't have yet. And will it make you happy. Then go for it. I didn't see you said it's black have it painted something else.

I had 5 at one time for a while. I'm down to 3, two are black and 1 is tan. They are just so cute!

what ever you are comfortable with is the correct # you should have.

I'd buy it and then start selling them to us that want one!

I'd probably buy it and use it to trade for the 301 that I am really wanting.

Exactly. And if this purchase doesn't cause any disruption to the general household budget, then you should get it if you really love it.

I have four, which is really three too many. I hate that three of them don't see any action. Seems unfair to the machine. That being said, I'm not planning to get rid of any of them, but I hope I can resist buying any more.

I rotate through my 3 Featherweights, so they all get used.

Mary if it really bothers you thinking you have to many I will gladly send you my address and you can send one to my house.

grab it

Flying_V_Goddess 06-11-2011 09:30 AM

I'd say just one, but that's just me. An office cubicle would be bigger than the sewing space I have so I guess its harder for me to imagine how anyone would have the room for 4 sewing machines. But if you're going to use it and have space for it then why the heck not. Go for it.

The one that dies with the most toys WINS!!!! I too have 7.
One Metallic Blue, 3 black and a celery colored one. I also have 2 taken completely apart, stripped and waiting for me to get the energy to paint them.

ewecansew 06-11-2011 11:18 AM

I think I have 9. One greenish one, one 222 and all the rest are 221's of various years. Every machine is different.

Q: How Many Featherweights Do I Need?
A: One more than you currently have!

sandy14 06-11-2011 02:18 PM

As many as you can fit in your sewing room and then put on an addition to your room for more!!!! :):):)

Enjoy them all!!!!!!

Thanks all for your thoughts on this! I suprized myself and I did not buy this machine. My house is small and too full of stuff that I don't use. I do tend to over-kill with things I love. I'm working on restraint! Thanks again!

Lostn51 06-12-2011 04:02 PM

You never can have too many vintage machines!! And you can always paint it ;)
