Aside from Walmart, (who ran out all the fabric stores here when they moved in) I have to drive about 30 miles. Walmart has been closing out their fabric departments but we petitioned them to keep it.
Having said that, though, if I'm willing to spend about an hour travel time, we have Mary Jo's fabric store in Gastonia, NC and it is a fabric haven! :-D |
1 national chain fabric store -- I don't care for their quilting fabrics
Then 2 LQS's -- 1 within 15 mins and 1 about 40 mins away. I order most of my fabric online -- better selection and much cheaper prices, even when I include shipping. I can hardly wait until October when I visit my sister in Ontario. We're going to do a southern Ontario shop hop!! |
Welive in an area where there are a lot of Amish and Mennonites. WM only has a small selection. Hancock Fabrics is an hour away. Otherwise we have specialty shops and they are really pricey. Have to travel an hour either way we go.
Really hard to get a good quality of anything. HF has just redone their store, but still not the best. Just Jo |
two in McKinney and there are a number within driving distance

Most of our quilt shops are about 1hr. away or more which is a good thing because I would be spending too much time in them....
|
Zero....not even a Joann, Hancocks, or Walmart with fabric. I order my fabric on line when needed and usually find it on sale. The shipping gets you though. When I go out of town I try to visit their quilt shop. :0(

I'm an hour from the closest LQS, the next one is another hour away. Joannes is about 45 minutes away. You are very lucky.
|
There's a Joann's and Hobby Lobby about 25 miles away but my favorite is Lolly's in Shipshewana, IN and that's about 4 1/2 HOURS away. I try to go there every time I visit son and dil who live near there.
|
I have WM and Hancock, new Hobby Lobby within 25 mile. LQS, one about 35-40 miles.
|
They are 10+ miles away. I think twice before going due to the gas prices.
