How Many Quilts Have You Made?????

I have recently made 3 rag quilts (love 'em ~ soooo quick & easy) .... and really need to (re)learn how to to finish the proper way!!! Yikes ... the learning curve!!!

And about 30 yrs. ago when I did quilting, I hand-pieced a queen size drunkard's path (and then just tied it); and quilted about 5 baby quilts. And it seems I have forgotten *how* to do the sashes/bindings/sandwiching, etc., etc., etc.

OK, and so I have found a really neat quilting site, called: www.jaybirdquilts.com ~ and I am absolutely loving her quilting/style. And either on her website (or elsewhere), I read where she has made 200 quilts. And I thought, WOW ~ 200 quilts .... that is a LOT of quilts to have made in about 10 years (I think she said she had been quilting about that long). And she is a relatively young gal too.

And also, on this board, one of the members said they had made 300 quilts.

And I am in awe of someone making 200 and 300 quilts!!! Wow ... what an accomplishment that is. I have patterns/fabric going thru my head and have like maybe 15 patterns I would like to try!!!

SO, how many quilts have YOU made??? And when you started this hobby, did you ever imagine yourself making that many???

Just curious .... but sure hoping to hear everyone's responses :)

I just purchased a used long arm quilting machine. I told my husband that I had to quilt at least 40 quilts to get my money back. (The machine is for my personal use only.) In the past, I've made 3 full-size quilts, 7 baby quilts, and several wall hangings and miscellaneous items. Of the 40 that I think I need to make, one is ready for the frame and one is being pieced. I think 40 is really stretching it for me!!

I started quilting in 2004. My 1st quilt was made for my Mom, a cotton crazy quilt. The quilt disappeared and the grandson shown with it is now waiting in heaven for all those that love him, but I have lots of beautiful memories. I am now working on quilt number239. I love to machine applique and making scrap quilts.

Started in 2005 also and have made many tops and they are waiting to be quilted. About 20 I think. With 2 1/2 years of not quilting due to illness. That's not very many in the quilting world. I have a problem sitting still for very long. I am slow and take my time. I've only just started quilting again 2 months ago. And now I'm older and slower but I don't stress out. It's a joy to get back to it.

I started to learn about 7 years ago..due to a busy career I got very little done....Now that I am disabled, I get much more done..and I hand quilt everything..I have made about 15 quilts since January...Still have 6 more grandchildren that need theirs!! Got 8 of them done already..In between I make purses, backpacks, and other gift items..Hoping to keep up the pace!

I started in 1981 and have been making quilts ever since. I have lost track of the number but am well over 200 by now. I have made every size from table runners, placemats to queen size bed quilts. I used to hand quilt til I fell and broke my shoulder. Now I machine quilt on my older domestic machine.

Eleven quilts in 3 years. Guess I am slow!! I also do wall hangings, table runners, pillow cases and charity quilts ---- OH I can count those quilts too, but those are just quilt tops. Twelve that I can remember. When you ladies mention doing quilts in the 100's - are those completed or just tops?? I can't imagine finishing that many. Wow. I have a long list of patterns to try also.

According to THE LIST, 86.
Not bad in only 12 years, including almost no sewing for the last four.

Also, at last count, 12 UFO's in various stages, but too far invested (time and $$$) to toss or use the as-yet-unused fabric for something else.

way too many to count! one summer my kids & i made 75 twin sized quilts (pieced, appliqued, quilted & bound) i really dislike (production- quilting) so we don't do that anymore- once summer was more than enough- generally i make between 12 & 20 a year (mostly queens- a few smaller quilts here & there- seldom even think about them if they are baby quilts. so, i've probably made somewhere between 250 & 300 - i do have quilts i've been working on for over a year- that at some point will be finished- i am always working on 6-12 at a time- sometimes 3 or 4 will (suddenly) come together all at once- when i have a number of tops stacked up to get quilted i set aside a week to get them done- then work on bindings while watching tv- or during breaks at work - so sometimes it seems like i made 7 in one month- but really i only finished that many that month- i'd been working on them for weeks.

I've been quilting since 1983, and have no idea how many quilts I've made over the years. Way over 100, I'm sure!
