Somewhere I read that the directions call for the blocks to end up larger to allow for squaring up. Mine were 10 1/2".

I bought a padded (approximate 12 1/4 & 15) envelope from USPS costing about $2.50. Mailing cost was $2something. My blocks were 10 1/2" square. I fit 8 blocks in it with room for quite a few more without having to squish them in.
