Am Grandma to 3 year old Elliot and identical 5 month old twins, Rory and Clayton. My sister asked me what it was like to be a grandma. I told her it was like having a huge space you never knew you had in your heart filled with love.

Drew 10-16-2010 05:16 AM

I have 1 granddaughter, Brady, age 8. Looks as though that's it unless my son gets married!! Grand fur babies: two cats (Sasha and Jenny), one dog (Chloe)!! It's so fun quilting and sewing for my granddaughter because she knows what she likes and we shop for fabric together!! Can't get better than that!! (Sometimes she even picks out the quilt pattern)!!

mamasuze 10-16-2010 05:16 AM

Have one grandson who will be 2 next month. He's the greatest, and we'd love to have a bunch more!

Lots of grandparents here. I have 9, 8 girls and one boy, ages 10 to 28. Didn't begin quilting until 11 years ago so I only made baby quilts for the 2 youngest. Each grandkid has at least one quilt I made for them. May in Jersey

PS: Change that number to 10 as we just got a new DGS when DGD Laura married last month.

Barbm 10-16-2010 06:12 AM

I joined the ranks of "Grammie" status 3 1/2 years ago when the love of my life, Noah was born. Since then the others have blessed us with Zachary, Hailey and Taylor. Only Zack lives close, but we stay in touch with pics and calls (and Facebook!).

I can't wait for the day they are allowed to come to Grammie and Poppa's to vacation without their parents.

I miss them all so much- their smiles, new words (just loved being called Mom by Zack- he thought that was my name) and their antics. Yes- the grands are soooo much better.

Gemini Dolly 10-16-2010 06:38 AM

I have 3 daughters, a son, and 3 granddaughters.

EagarBeez 10-16-2010 06:39 AM

I am a grandmother to a granddaughter 6, and grandson 3 and a grandson due in December.
They live out of state, so I don't see them too often, but, talk to them on the phone

tweety2 10-16-2010 06:45 AM

I have 6 and 2 great-grand children. I've
made a quilt for each of them. Love it!

tweety2 10-16-2010 06:46 AM

One granddaughter is out of state and she
has the 2 great grand children and we don't get
to see them but once a year. Wish they were
closer.

tweety2 10-16-2010 06:47 AM

WOW! I like that!

Bonbonary 10-16-2010 06:48 AM

I am the grandma of two boys & one girl. She is 8 yrs old and so interested in learning to sew. I am teaching her some fun basic projects & know it will be a life-long enjoyment for her. So far we have made several pieced Scotty Dog pillows which she gives as gifts to her cousins. Now we are on to Halloween mini-treat bags for her school friends. I am having so much fun with her. Unfortunately, her mother was not a fan of sewing. Maybe I was just too busy working then to have the time or patience. Grand children are our second chance to enjoy the little ones especially now in retirement.

neonparrot 10-16-2010 06:48 AM

I have 13....3 of them are boys. Scattered in 5 different states...Ohio, New York, Alabama, Kentucky and Florida. At least they are not TOO far away, and we travel all the time to see each of them. The families also visit us here in Alabama several times during the year. What fun!! We are going to Ohio for Halloween and several are coming down to AL for Thanksgiving. You should see my food bill..!!

alica1367 10-16-2010 07:11 AM

I have 12, 4 are stepgrands and one is a nephew of a son-in-law who has become their's through the courts. I love them all dearly.

KathyM 10-16-2010 07:15 AM

Three granddaughters. Mylie 5, Gemma just about 3 and Taya 19 days. When I want to shop for fabric with the girls, I put a bolt of animal fabric on the cart and it keeps them busy looking at the animals. Mylie thinks she should get a quilt just about every time she visits.

Joan 10-16-2010 07:16 AM

I have one Grandson who just turned three and he is the "light" of my life!

Truly, it's like having all the "good" times of parenting without the bad times (kid crabby, kid has nausea, kid won't sleep, kid gets sick when something important is going on in your life, etc.)

The only downside is that my little guy is far away and I only get to see him monthly if I'm lucky.

sall 10-16-2010 07:21 AM

I have 6. Four boys and two girls, ranging from 23 down to 11 months. Two of them, 14 year old Ellie and 12 year old James are visiting for the day tomorrow, and I will be going down to my daughters all next week where the two youngest live. Libby is 3 and Jake is 11 months.I will need to spend the next day in bed me thinks.

I have always made time to sew but I never really made very many quilts until I retired 4 years ago. I have 4 grandchildren.

I was widowed and remarried later. We have 6 adult children and 13 grandchildren ranging in age from 23 to 8. Seven guys and six gals. They live all over the country. Sad to say we only see one 11 year old girl . Love cheering at her horse shows.
